They do not contain mercury or other hazardous substances and meet the requirements of EU Directive 2002/95/EC on the restriction of the use of certain hazardous substances in electrical and electronic equipment – RoHS.In the EU, OSRAM XBO® reflector lamps fall within the scope of Directive 2002/96/EC - WEEE (Waste Electrical and Electronic Equipment) or their national implementations. To do this, the lamp must be completely covered with leather or a coarse, thick fabric. With protective clothing in place (safety goggles, gloves and suitable protection for the neck area, e.g. thick scarf), the XBO® reflector lamp must be shattered with a suitable tool so that the fill gas escapes from the burner.
